ZANZIBAR FLYING SAFARIS

From this remote outpost, at the hub of the Monsoon trading routes, history was enacted, journeys of discovery were planned, Sultanate empires were established and the first mediaeval global village was founded.Zanzibar is renowned for it's incredible diving among other water sports. Zanzibar retains the imprint of its historic legacy in the tumbling streets of the old town in the Arabic-dialect Swahili language and the rare antiques of the bazaars and markets.

The haloes of idyllic clean beached that adorn the island's coast, and the fragrant spice plantations that blossom in the interior make Zanzibar The Ultimate Indian Ocean Destination, the jewel in East Africa's crown.

CRA-Z 01: Zanzibar City Tour - Half Day
The half-day city tour visits Zanzibar's colorful market, which exudes a heady smell of herbs and spices. Other sites visited include the Anglican Cathedral, which stands in silent testimony on the site of one of the last open slave markets in the world, the residence of the late Sultan of Zanzibar; 'Tipu Tip House'. The Old Fort and the House of Wonders - all locations rich in antique and full of intrigue from the days of long ago. The tour ends with a romantic stroll along the narrow lanes of the Old Stone Town.

CRA-Z 02: Zanzibar Spice Tour - 4 Hours
The spice tour is guaranteed to sharpen your senses. Drive through the countryside to visit spice plantations - with an opportunity to pick, smell and savor exotic fruits and spices.

CRA-Z 03: - Zanzibar Prison Island - Full Day
Changuu Island is a historical island once used for the detention of recalcitrant slaves. Today Giant Tortoises, some over 100 years old, act as unlikely vigilantes over the island. The beach is superb and the crystal clear sea excellent for swimming, snorkeling, fishing and diving. This trip is perfect to while away a complete day.

CRA-Z 04: Zanzibar Jozani Forest - 4 Hours
Jozani is the only remaining natural forest on Unguja Island. Covering an area of 10 sq km it consists of high forest, swamp forest and evergreen forest. It provides an important refuge for the remaining Ungula fauna such as the rare Red Colobus Monkeys, small Zanzibar Leopard and two antelope species - the Zanzibar Duiker and Suni.

CRA-Z 05: Mangapwani Slave Caves - 5 hours
Along a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach lies a hidden cove said to be used for hiding slaves after their export was forbidden in 1873. Enjoy lunch and time to swim or relax on the beach.

CRA-Z 06: Dolphin Extravaganza

From Fumba we proceed by local boats into the waters of the Island in search of the gentle and human friendly Dolphins. Chances are that you could find a pod and be able to swim with these curious creatures. Swahili barbecue lunch will be served on a nearby desert island and have time to relax before returning to the mainland.

CRA-Z 07: Zanzibar Two Days

 


DAY 1: Depart from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight to the Spice Island. After approximately 2 1/2 hours, you will be met on arrival and transferred to the beach hotel where accommodation is on full board basis.

DAY 2: Morning at leisure or optional activities including a visit to the fruit farms or tour the old town and Sultan's Palace. Depart Zanzibar after lunch arriving Jomo Kenyatta International airport in the early evening. Met on arrival and transferred to a beach hotel.



CRA-Z 08: 3 Nights / 4 Days Swahili Classic

 


The Swahili Classic package will help you discover the history and culture of Zanzibar. You also spend some time at the beach. Zanzibar’s history is connected with its earlier role as a transit market for slaves and ivory. Zanzibar is a fusion of cultures and African Arab and Persian influences are prominent. You will see ruins of palaces and ancient mosques’, a Sultans harem, and the Mangapwani Slave Caves. In addition you will get to eat a Swahili lunch and take a half-day cultural tour. Your stay will be at Tembo House, an elegant hotel located on the sea front of Stone Town- the cultural heart of Zanzibar.

Day 1: ARRIVE ZANZIBAR
Upon arrival in Zanzibar you will be met by our representative and transferred to Tembo House Hotel in Stone Town.

Tembo House Hotel is an elegant hotel located on the sea front of the Stone Town, Zanzibar Island. Zanzibar International Airport is 10 km away. All rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with oriental and traditional Zanzibar ornaments, antiques and furniture. All rooms are air-conditioned and have telephone, satellite TV, minibar and ensuite bathrooms. The hotel has a restaurant featuring local and international cuisine, bars and a gift shop. Day 2: SLAVE MARKET, PALACE & MANGAPWANI BEACH
After breakfast depart to the former Slave market for a guided tour of the site. Afterwards drive to Maruhubi Palace ruins.

The palace was built by Sultan Barghash in 1880 to house his harem but burnt down in 1889. Among the ruins you will still be able to get a feel of the former grandeur of this palace. Your guide will show round the Palace, the fishing village and the dhow shed. You afterwards drive to Mangapwani village. Here, you tour the local farms and visit the former slave chambers and caves. Enjoy a Swahili lunch at Zanzibar Serena Hotel in Mangapwani.

After lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure Mangapwani beach. At 1600 hrs, depart from Mangapwani aboard a local dhow and Sail back to Stone Town. You will have dinner at Blues Restaurant. Overnight at Tembo House Hotel

Day 3: ZANZIBAR - CULTURAL TOUR
After breakfast depart with picnic lunch boxes for a half-day cultural tour at Kizimbani village. Dinner and overnight at Tembo House Hotel

Day 4: DEPART
After breakfast check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your flight back home.


CRA-Z 09: 5 Nights / 6 Days Breezy Zanzibar

 


This special offer is a complete holiday package and combines beach experience with tours to help you discover Zanzibar. The package covers the highlights of Zanzibar: Stone Town, Spice Tour and Jozani Forest. You visit ruins of palaces and ancient mosques’, a Sultans harem, the Mangapwani slave caves and of course the spice plantations after which Zanzibar takes its trade name. Nature lovers will be delighted by Jozani Forest, one of the few remaining sanctuaries of the red Colobus monkey. Stay is based on standard rooms at the Karafuu Beach Hotel/ Tembo House Hotel. The offer is very good values as rates are valid in the high season without having to pay high season supplements as in other hotels.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: ARRIVE ZANZIBAR
Upon arrival in Zanzibar you will be met by our representative and transferred to Tembo House Hotel. Overnight at Tembo House hotel. (Dinner is at client’s own discretion)

Day 2: STONE TOWN TOUR
After breakfast your trip begins with Stone Town tour. The 2-hour tour will take you to the most scenic parts of the Old Town. This is the cultural heart of Zanzibar. Our guides are experienced and very well conversant with the rich history of the Island. The Old Town oozes magic and mystery and shafts and sharp light joust with deep shadows creating a fascinating world in the narrow streets.

UNESCO has recently declared Stone Town as one of the world’s historic cities, and it’s now a protected area in Zanzibar. The tour takes you to the former site of the slave market; the cathedral (Cathedral Church of Christ) built in its site in 1874, the Sultan’s palace and more. Relax at leisure at the beach side. Overnight and Breakfast, at Tembo House hotel. (Dinner is at client’s own discretion)

Day 3: SPICE TOUR / JOZANI MARINE
After breakfast pick up from hotel and transfer to Kizimbani Village for the Spice Tour.

For much of the year the scent of cloves is carried in the breezes from the clove buds drying the sun on road reside mats. The Spice Island as it is affectionately called has over forty of the most valuable tropical aromatic plants that were introduced over the last two centuries by the Oman Arabs. The spices are grown in the spice grades in the hills north of Stone Town. Our knowledgeable guides will take you through this fascinating tour. Spices can be tasted and even purchased. Later return to your hotel for lunch.

The afternoon will feature a visit to Jozani forest. This forest is one of the last remaining sanctuaries in the world of the red colubus monkey. Wonderful photo opportunities and sightings of these rare creatures living in the forest reserves are possible on the pathways. Our guides are also naturalists and nature lovers will have a wonderful time in the nature reserve. After lunch, transfer to Karafuu beach hotel for overnight. Breakfast, Dinner and overnight at Karafuu Beach hotel

Days 4 & 5: KARAFUU BEACH HOTEL
Spend the days enjoying beaches of East Coast and the Swahili way of living or at the resort's swimming pool. Scuba diving or diving course for beginners are available (at an Extra cost) at most of the beach resorts in Zanzibar. Breakfast, Dinner and overnight at Karafuu Beach hotel.

Day 6: ZANZIBAR & DEPART
After breakfast check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your flight back home.
